The plot started with two
bestfriend, Badrol and Lim. Bored with nothing to do for their school holidays.
Badrol invites his best friend Lim to go on a camping trip at his “Kampung”
where he grew up, with intentions to experience back some long forgotten
memories Malaysian life in his grandfather’s durian orchard.
However, their holiday was
distracted by the discovery of clue that leads them closer to the legend of
mystery house deep in the forest. In fact, there is monsters known as “Hantu
Durian” which become hot story in that “Kampung”. Knowing that the monsters are
related with the mystery house, together with their newly found friends, Rajoo
the animal-whispering boy, Kak Ros who Badrol crush on and her two cute twin
brothers, Upin Ipin, work together in revealing the unreveal secrets
surrounding the small “kampung”
There is a culture implementation
in this movie which clearly show the background of “Kampung” of Malaysian
culture. The movie also emphasizing on “Durian”, the king of fruit which
admired by all races in Malaysia is the prove of implementing the element of “1
Malaysia” rather than the variety races of the characters.
Violence Characters in this movie
such as “Durian Ghost” and “Giant Snake” are too violent for children to see,
the animators should be more sensitive on the characters characteristics
because it may affect children physically and mentally. This may cause a
distraction on children’s mind such as bring the character into a reality and
imagine it exist in real world.
Belief of spiritual beings such
as belief “Durian Ghost” is exist and steal durian at their orchard and
cursed/haunted abandoned house in Kampung Durian Runtuh where “Durian Ghost”
prowling around there at night. In these movie its clearly mention about
superstitious belief about “Durian Ghost”. Superstitious belief among children
was a negative element in order for them to grow up because it will cause them
living in fears.
Love of kinship or family is
clearly shown between the family of Upin and Ipin. Eventhough Kak Ros is
portrayed as a fierce sister for these two twin brothers, however she still
protect these troublemakers during the adventure. Kak Ros protect her brothers
by shielding the twins. There is only one reason why she do that, it is because
of love.
Overall, Geng Pengembaraan Bermula
contains elements of love and culture of Malaysian. But parents also must give attention
about violence and spiritual elements contains in this movie.
Overall rating, 7/10.
